ADA HULDA CHANEY

Ada Hulda Bennett was born near Big Mound, Iowa, Sept. 8, 1871, the daughter of Jacob and Della Miller Bennett. She passed away at the home of her daughter in Milton, Sept. 10, 1949, at the age of 78 years and 2 days, after an illness of several months.

On July 21, 1889, she was united in marriage to John C. Chaney. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. George Carter of Keosauqua, Iowa, and Mrs. Earl Cecil of Milton, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Chaney resided in the vicinity of Bonaparte and Stockport, Iowa, until February of 1929, when they moved to Milton where she has since resided.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away May 30, 1929; her parents, three sisters and four brothers.

Besides her two daughters, she is survived by one granddaughter, Marjorie Cecil of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother, Jacob Bennett of Farmington, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

In early girlhood she joined the Baptist church in Harrisburg township. She will always be remembered as a kind and loving mother and a true friend, who was always ready to help those in need.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Milton on Monday, Sept. 12, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J.W. Darlington. Pallbearers were John Pfeifer, Gene Pfeifer, George Sellwood, Edd Bennett, Elmer Bennett and Dale Bennett, all nephews. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Williams of Keosauqua, accompanied by Mrs. Sam Van Syac of Milton. Burial was in Sunnyside cemetery at Milton.
