DR. JAMES A. YOUNG

Dr. James A. Young was born in Iowa, on July 23, 1861 and departed this life Dec. 18, 1931, at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 25 days, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. W. Scott of Oklahoma City, Okla. Dr. Young's health had been failing for more than a year but had failed quite rapidly since the death of his wife last June.

Dr. Young and family made their home in Bonaparte for several years, leaving here about twenty-five years ago to locate in La Grange, Mo., and moving from La Grange to Britton, Okla., in 1909 which was his home until the death of Mrs. Young. ONe daughter, Gertie, died in 1918, and one son Jimmie, in 1929. Those who (survived to mourn him are two) daughters, Mrs. Lydia Jane Norwood of Ballinger, Texas, and Mrs. Mary Etta Scott of Oklahoma City, Okla. He is also survived by two brothers: Ted Young of Keokuk and J.F. Young of Ft. Madison, and by two sisters, Mrs. Julia Shaffer and Mrs. Daisy Kelsey of Croton, Iowa, and by four grandchildren and a host of friends.

Dr. Young was a faithful member of the Baptist church, being chairman of the board of deacons at Britton. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Masonic lodges at Britton and was president of the Oklahoma Electic Medical association.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church at Britton. The Masonic lodge had charge at the grave in the Britton cemetery.
