Cleo Franklin Hammond 1931-2017

Cleo Franklin Hammond, 85, a resident of High Point, NC, passed away March 5, 2017, at his residence. Mr. Hammond was born in Moravia to the late James Franklin and Effie Adams Hammond on September 29, 1931. He retired from Prelude Foam Company, NC, where he was a sales manager. In 1985 he married Doris Jean Livengood. Mr. Hammond was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having fought in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and golf, but he especially loved camping. He was a Woodworker and loved to spend time with his friends in their coffee club. Mr. Hammond was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hammond is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Doris Livengood Hammond, of the home; three sons, Russell Hammond of Four Oaks, NC, Larry Hammond of High Point, and Jeff Hammond and wife Cynthia of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Kristie Hammond of Macon, GA, and Brenda Hammond Gese and husband Mike of Thomasville; one stepson, Patrick Campbell and wife Mary Ann of Hawaii; one step-daughter, Kim Wilson and husband Curtis of Archdale; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, June Leonard of Douds, IA; a special niece, Mickey Wilson of Macon, GA; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends Patsy and Terry Isley of Thomasville. A funeral Service was conducted March 8 in the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Roy Cantrell officiating. Interment followed the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
