Suicide of Mrs. Otto Shelman.

Last Sunday morning citizens of Hillsboro and vicinity were shocked when the word was circulated that Mrs. Otto Shelman, whose maiden name was Birdie Teter, was dead, the result of having taken what is said was lice poison sometime during the night previous. Death came about 6 o'clock Sunday morning. She is survived by her husband, three children and other relatives. Her father and mother died several years ago. She was a good woman and was held in high esteem by her acquaintances. For perhaps three years her health had steadily failed and, we understand, she became quite despondent during the last several months. Last fall her husband accompanied her to the Pacific coast where they remained during the winter, hoping the climate there would restore her health. But it did not, so they returned home this spring. Her suffering, both physical and mental, was severe, culminating in the sad ending of this wife and mother. Her age was about 37. Funeral services are to be held from the Baptist church in Hillsboro at 2 p.m., Wednesday of this week. Burial will be in the Hillsboro cemetery where rest the remains of her mother and father.
