RETIRED GROCER AT KEOSAUQUA DIES SUNDAY

KEOSAUQUA--The service for Robert R. Dorothy, 69, retired Keosauqua businessman, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Keosauqua Methodist Church. The Rev. C. H. Orf of Des Moines will be in charge, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. E. S. Tschetter. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

Mr. Dorothy died Sunday about 3 a.m. in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born at Stockport Nov. 20, 1894, the son of Robert M. and Anna Sturges Dorothy.

On Jan. 1, 1915, he was married to Mabel Burch of Birmingham, who survives.

In 1924 they came to Keosauqua and together with his late brother, E. C. Dorothy, went into the grocery business. After 38 consecutive years in the store, he retired in the fall of 1962.

He was a member of the Keosauqua Masonic Order and of the Commercial Club.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by three sons, Maj. R. W. Dorothy of Lincoln, Neb., Bill Dorothy of Keosauqua and Jack Dorothy of Cantril; one brother, Arthur Dorothy of Ottumwa and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Barker of Douds.

His parents and four brothers preceded him in death.

The body is at the Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham.
