Donna Lee Story, 75, of Birmingham, passed away February 18, 2017, at the Keosauqua Health Care Center surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 17, 1941, at her family's farm near Douds, IA, to Jesse Clyde (J.C.) and Edith Alberta (Bonar) Countryman. She married Melvin Lee Story on December 8, 1962, in Kahoka, MO. They were inseparable for the next 52+ years until Melvin's passing September 21, 2015.

Donna lived all of her life in Van Buren County and completed the majority of her education at Douds until her senior year where she graduated from the Birmingham High School in 1958. After graduation, Donna worked as a housekeeper at Parsons College before becoming a bookkeeper/receptionist at various locations in Fairfield and Birmingham including Pamida, Standard of Beaverdale Lumber, the Vet Clinic, S & R Equipment, and at the KMCD/KIIK 96 Radio Station. In addition to her full-time careers, she worked as a clerk at the Derby Convenience Store. She was also an Avon sales representative for many years; a career in which she received many awards and gained many friendships. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do to make sure she could give her family everything they desired.

Donna enjoyed Square dancing, gardening, playing cards, attending music shows, reading, collecting recipes, and making crafts. Her biggest joy was spending time with family and friends and watching her flowers grow and the birds and bunnies play in her backyard. She especially treasured participating in her grandchildren's numerous activities. She was always instrumental in helping prepare decorations and mints for many graduations, weddings, and other special family occasions.

Her family left to cherish her life are daughters Debi (Don) Steele of Fairfield, Kathy (Randy Arnold) Story of Pella, and Rhonda (Rick) Robinson of Fairfield; five grandchildren: Mike (Ashley) Harmon, Kyle (Katie) Harmon, Abby Stickels, Rachel (Shawn) Dorman, Ross Robinson; three step-grandchildren: Sandra (Chad) Vice, Nathan (Shana) Steele, Miles (Jordan Thomas) Arnold; four great-grandchildren and one due in March, and two step-great-grandchildren, along with brother and sisters-in-law, many beloved nieces and nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her husband Melvin, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Veryl, Clifford, Dale, and Dean, and sisters, Louise Hoskins and Maxine Wolfe.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Services will be at the Birmingham United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 23 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mary Kathryn Hart officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
