Elizabeth Barton

Miss Elizabeth Barton, 64, Ottumwa, died at 8 p.m. Monday, April 19, in St. Mary's hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla. She had spent the winter with relatives in Fla.

She was born in Farmington, June 30, 1906, the daughter of Willis and Alice Ware Barton. She moved with her family to Milton, Iowa, in 1915. She was graduated from high school there and attended the State University of Iowa, Iowa Teachers College, and the Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa.

Miss Barton taught school in the Milton area before moving to Ottumwa in 1942. She served as a secretary for several Ottumwa business firms. She was a member of the United Presbyterian church, PEO, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Women's Club.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary Meinhardt, Kahoka; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Everett Barton, Lake Park, Fla., and Mrs. Roy Barton, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Funeral service was held at 1:30 Saturday, April 24, in the Ottumwa United Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Sharon cemetery.
