MRS. JOHN CHAFER
KEOSAUQUA.-- Mrs. Lucy Chafer, 82, died today at 6 a.m. at Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Oct. 6. She had fractured a hip in a fall and later sustained a stroke.
Born in Sabula July 8, 1881, she was the daughter of Albert and Jennie Canfield McDole. She was married July 1, 1901, to John Chafer, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Chafer was a member of the Methodist Church, WSCS and Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Workhozen of Sioux City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bert.
The funeral tentatively is scheduled Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Keosauqua Methodist Church with the Rev. E. S. Tschetter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be on Friday in a Sabula Cemetery. The body is at Burnett-Catcott Funeral Home.
