HAWBAKER RITES HELD AT FT. MADISON SATURDAY

STOCKPORT - Last rites for a former Stockport resident, Mrs. Harriet M. Hawbaker, 77, were held Saturday at Nieters Chapel in Ft. Madison, in charge of the Rev. Wilson Hyde, pastor of the Santa Fe Methodist church. Burial was in the Oakland cemetery. Mrs. Hawbaker died May 18 in the Sacred Heart hospital.

A native of Van Buren county, Mrs. Hawbaker was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Washington Spray, and was born Oct. 11,1871. She had been a resident of Ft. Madison for the past 20 years.

On June 23, 1891, she was married at Stockport. Mr. Hawbaker died Oct. 13, 1940. Mrs. Hawbaker was a member of the Methodist church.

The last of a family of eight children, Mrs. Hawbaker is survived by 9 children: Tom and William Hawbaker, both of Ft. Madison; Elmer Hawbaker, of West Point; Ray and Dewey Hawbaker, both of Hillsboro; Fern Hawbaker, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Lida Gillette, Monmouth, Ill.; Mrs. Margaret Thompson, Ft. Madison; and Mrs. Ethel Warner of Stockport. Her youngest son, Robert Hawbaker, died April 15, 1942. There are 23 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
