Mrs. J.C. Brown, whose home was near Mt. Zion, this county, formerly a resident of Camanche, Clinton county, passed away at Jane Lamb Hospital, Clinton, Iowa, Sunday, Dec. 24, 1922, at 4 p.m., following a surgical operation.

Elizabeth Metcalf was born at Camanche, Iowa, Feb. 10, 1868, and hence at the time of her death her age was 54 years, 10 months and 14 days. She was united in marriage to Jay C. Brown, March 24, 1900. She leaves to mourn the loss of a beautiful wife and a loving mother her husband and daughter (Evelyn). Her husband was with her during her week at the hospital and the daughter arrived before her mother's death. She is also survived by a brother, John T. Metcalf of Camanche, and a sister, Mrs. Charles R. Long of Low Moor, also of Clinton county.

Mrs. Brown was a consistant member of the M.E. church and will be greatly missed in her family circle and by a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Camanche, Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. Interment was in Rosehill cemetery.
