Obituary of R. Sherod.

Reason Sherod was born in Carroll county, Ohio, Nov. 9, 1848, and died at his home in Keosauqua, Jan. 2, 1910, being at the time of his death 61 years, 1 month and 23 days old. His parents moved to Iowa when he was two years old, and settled on the farm homestead near Winchesters, Iowa, which is still know as the Sherod farm. He lived there the greater part of his life. Several years ago he bought a farm near Keosauqua, and moved to town for better school privileges for his children. He became a member of the Baptist church at Utica, Iowa, in 1884. About 4 years ago he, with his wife, placed their letter in the Christian church at Keosauqua. Mr. Sherod was a man who favored the good in every thing. His every effort was for the betterment of mankind and the mending of ill s that surround the homes of our land. His earnest desire was to have his children grow to pure and useful manhood and womanhood and his every effort was bent in that direction. He was industrious to a fault and this marked quality has enabled him to leave his family well provided for. He leaves a wife, three sons and a daughter, three brothers as well as many friends who will miss his cheerful presence. His burial was in the Purdom cemetery, the funeral services being conducted in the Christian church by Rev. C.E. Perkins.
