Shirley Ann Munford

The Farmington community was shocked Saturday morning by the death of Miss Shirley Anne Munford, 12 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Munford. She had not been well for the past few weeks and had been to a hospital for examination. She was at a home where death came unexpectedly at 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

She was born in Farmington Dec. 28, 1936 and was a eighth grade pupil in Farmington school. The school was dismissed Monday afternoon so that her many friends could attend the last rites.

Surviving are her parents; three sisters, Mrs. Lowell Drummond, Mrs. Lawrence Keller and Mrs. Leland Baum; two brothers, Oliver Munford Jr. and James at home; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dodson of Ft. Madison.

On Children's day 1949 she was baptised and became a member of the Methodist church.

To know Shirley was to love her. At home, at school and in the community, her lovable and happy spirit, her winsome smile endeared her to everyone. She was interested in the good and wholesome in her school and church, in competitive sports and all community interests. Her death deeply grieves all who knew her and she will be sadly missed by all her associates. She had a sweet and pleasing personality, the memory of which her family and friends will long cherish.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Farmington Methodist church with the Rev. Fay Marriott officiating. Burial was in Farmington Greenglade cemetery.
