JAMES DAVIDSON

James Davidson was born on a farm two miles south of Bonaparte, Iowa, on Dec. 20, 1845, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray J. Noblitt, 4067 West 7th St., Fort Worth, Texas, at 1:15 Sunday afternoon, June 27, 1937, aged 97 years, 6 months and 7 days. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Davidson, who settled in Van Buren county in 1933.

On March 18, 1875, he and Josephine Giles were united in marriage. His wife died Nov. 18, 1930. One daughter, Lulu, preceded him in death. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. John H. Anderson of Snyder, Okla., Glen Davidson, 537 S.W. 31st St., Oklahoma City, Thurman Davidson, 1630 West 40th St., Oklahoma City, Emmett Davidson, 824 North Crofford St., Bushenll, Ill., and Mrs. Ray J. Noblitt, 4067 West 7th St., Ft. Worth, Texas.

Mr. Davidson became ill last November and never gained much strength from a severe siege of the flu. Other complications and his advanced age kept him confined to his bed for the past seven months. He was a believer of the Quaker doctrine and had always lived in peace with his fellowmen, and he gave of his time and energy in the upbuilding of the two communities where he spent his entire life. He was a resident on the old home place where he was born until he moved to his claim west of Hobart in 1903. He farmed that place until 1916 when he and his wife moved to their home at 909 South Washington Street, Hobart, where they resided until Mrs. Davidson's death. After that he visited around with his five surviving children.

Mr. Davidson always took an active interest in good schools. He served for twenty-six years as clerk of the board of education of the district where he lived in Iowa and served as clerk of the Rock Island school district in Dill township until he moved to Hobart. He was an industrious and successful farmer and his outdoor life contributed to his health and strength whch(which) prevailed until the last.

Funeral services were conducted at the Gish Funeral home in Hobart on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the remains were interred in the family lot in the Hobart cemetery.
