Willard M. Kisling

Willard M. Kisling, son of Antrum and Mary Agnes Kisling, was born on a farm near Bentonsport, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1869, and passed from this life at his home, Oct. 11, 1938, at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 20 days.

On January 9, 1907, he was united in marriage to Allie M. Syfert of Bentonsport. To this union four children were born, Madge, Boyd, Vaunceil and Ruby.

Mr. Kisling's entire life has been spent on a farm in this community where he has been very much interested in the spiritual uplift of the children and the young people. He was indeed a friend of the lowly in spirit and nothing was too hard for him to do to help out in the time of need. He was a friend to all who knew him. He was very much devoted to his little grandchildren.

He has been very much interested in the Miller Chapel, the church of his community. He could not bear the thought of this church becoming one of the closed churches of the country.

Those left to mourn his very sudden passing are: his companion, and three children: Boyd of Stockport, Mrs. Vaunceil Keller of Fairfield, and Ruby, also of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Janet and Donald Lee Kisling and Donna Lou Keller. Two brothers, Clyde Kisling of Mt. Pleasant and John of Stockport; three sisters, Mrs. Meda Wilcoxson of Des Moines, Mrs. Ollie Johnston and Mrs. Bess Beswick, both of Stockport, many other relatives and a large circle of friends.

Besides his daughter, Madge, who died in infancy, his parents, one sister, Mrs. Grace Pratt, and two brothers George and Charley, preceded him in death.

His life of devotion to family, his brave, uncomplaining efforts to meet life and its hardships, and finally his trustful faith in the future with his Master are incense from the alabaster box of ointment, he gave to life and will remain an inspiration to those left behind.
