Glenn Lee Roby, 86, of Torrance, CA, formerly of the Douds-Selma area, passed away peacefully on Veterans Day, November 11, 2016. He was born on September 16, 1930, in Ottumwa, IA, to Glenn D. and Naomi Kincaid Roby.

Glenn proudly served in the army and saw combat in the Korean Conflict. As a civilian, Glenn was an engineer for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and resided in Torrance, CA, for over 60 years. After a brief marriage to Barbara Wilcox, Glenn found the love of his life in the Douglas parking lot, and married Pauline in 1971. They enjoyed traveling all over North America, either in their motor home or in Glenn's favorite vehicle, a Lincoln. He had been to every state, every Canadian province, and the Arctic Circle, more than once. Glenn was an avid fisherman and an accomplished hunter. He enjoyed model railroads, off-roading, and gadgets of all kinds. Glenn was happiest behind the wheel, and most years he put at least 20,000 miles on his vehicles. Hi Roller was his CB handle, and Glenn was exceptionally lucky at the blackjack tables, winning every time.

Glenn was an only child and fathered no children, his step-family was his very real family, Glenn is survived by a daughter-in-law, Beatrice DuPrie (Simone); five grandchildren, Gabrielle Brown (David), James DuPrie, Andrea Gallant (Kevin), Freya Simone, and Kimberly DuPrie (Oliver Oberdorf); and eight greatgrandchildren, Christina Brown, Alicia Monemee-DuPrie, Michael Arrington, Sean Bradley, Tori DuPrie, Josephine Simone, Salvatore Simone, Mario Simone and several great-greatgrandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Pearl Andruschak Roby, stepmother Ethel Roby, son-in-law, Harold DuPrie, and a granddaughter, Megan DuPrie.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday November 18, 2016, at Mount Moriah Cemetery with military honors by John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion, Douds. A private memorial will be held in Torrance, CA, in December.
