Funeral services of Arthur T.S. Owen, who was a resident of Farmington more than forty years, was held Tuesday afternoon at the Farmington Methodist church, Rev. Melvin Pearce of Urbana, Ill., officiating, assisted by Rev. Nicholson. Interment was in Kahoka cemetery. All Farmington business houses were closed during the service.

Mr. Owen was born in Meadville, Penn., sixty-seven years ago, a son of Albert G. and Sarah Axtell Owen. He had spent 46 years of his life as public school teacher, forty of which were as superintendent of Farmington schools, ending his work in that capacity in May of 1938.

On Oct. 31, 1938, the Van Buren County Schoolmaster's club honored Mr. Owen at a banquet which was attended by school men from various parts of the state.

His record as superintendent in one school for forty years is believed to be a national record for continuous service in such a capacity.

Surviving are his widow, Maude Greenlee Owen, one son, Albert, of Cedar Rapids, and one daughter, Mrs. Harold McCormac of Letts, Iowa.
