MRS. RAY MAXWELL

Mrs. Ray Maxwell, 72, well known resident of Fairfield, died Thursday morning at Jefferson county hospital after suffering a stroke the previous night. Her health had been failing for some time, but her condition had not been considered serious.

Mrs. Maxwell, the former Miss Ella Pace, was born near Pittsburg in Van Buren county. She spent several years in Des Moines before her marriage with Mr. Maxwell on April 24, 1924.

Surviving are her husband, and three stepsons, Charles H. Maxwell of Chicago, Lt. Raymond Maxwell, serving in the South Pacific, and Ralph Maxwell of Fairfield; also two sisters, Mrs. Bird Osborn of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Edward Bartlett of Greencastle, Ind., and one brother, Dr. Charles N. Pace president of Hamlin University, St. Paul, Minn.
