MARGERY CARSON SMITH

Margery Alice Carson, daughter of David and Sarah McCune Carson, was born on a farm in Lick Creek township, July 29, 1856, and passed away at her home south of Kilbourne, Sunday, Dec. 10, 1944, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 12 days. She was the last of a large family of brothers and sisters.

Deprived of the loving care of her mother at the age of six and her father at the age of nine years she was reared to young womanhood by the family's elderly and kindly neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Steward. She attended the White school in her home community and united with the Methodist church at the age of 13. She lived the life of a true patriot in her Christmas faith.

At the age of 19 she was united in marriage with Ellis Eugene Smith who preceded her in death eight years ago.

Those left to mourn the loss of a dear and loving mother are: Justin Steward Smith, Worland, Wyoming, Fred and Eva of Kilbourne, Myrtle Askew of Stockport, Margaret Stinson of Nespelem, Wash., Henrietta Keck and Katherine Boyer of Douds, Aletha of Des Moines, Etta Hissem of Selma and Norvin E. of Altadena, Calif.

Of her twenty grandchildren nine are in the service of this country. She also leaves eighteen great grandchildren and many friends.
