MRS. JOHN MURPHY

Orpha Castle Murphy was born July 13, 1872 in the state of Minnesota and passed away at 4:30 a.m. October 30, 1946 at the Sacred Heart hospital, Ft. Madison, where she had undergone a serious operation Saturday.

She came to Iowa as a small child and following the death of her parents was raised by Mr. and Mrs. James Roseberry of Belfast, Iowa. In this vicinity she met John W. Murphy whom she married in 1888. To this union nine children were born, four of whom preceded her in death. Her husband passed away August 12, 1946.

Mrs. Murphy joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Ft. Madison as a young lady and was a faithful member until her death.

She leaves to mourn her passing five children: Fred of Keokuk, John and Kirk at home, Mrs. Robert Brown and Charley of Ft. Madison; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Farmington church of the Nazarene, Elder W.H. Gunn, pastor of Ft. Madison Reorganized church of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment in Greenglade cemetery.
