FRED V. KENT

Fred V. Kent, 65, well known Ottumwa grocer, died Monday at St. Joseph's hospital, following a stroke suffered several weeks ago.

He was born in a log cabin at Winchester in Van Buren county August 14, 1881, the son of Byron and Margaret Ellen Mort Kent, moving to Ottumwa where he was educated in Ottumwa schools. For several years he owned and operated four grocery stores.

He was interested in harness horse racing practically all his life and was the owner and manager of a racing stable.
