WILLIAM L. KEELER

William Leven Keeler, son of Lyda Margaret and George W. Keeler, was born Dec. 21, 1869 at East Fairfield, Ohio, and departed this life at the Iowa City hospital on Jan. 4, 1947, at the age of 77 years and 14 days.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

When 10 years of age he moved with his family from Ohio to Albia, Iowa, a little later moving in the vicinity of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, where he resided until 3 years ago when he moved with his nephew, Leonard Wolfe and family, with whom he had made his home for the past 17 years, to the Lebanon neighborhood.

He had a loving disposition and was always ready to help others. His great affection for the Wolfes three children and their admiration for him will always be remembered. He had been in failing health for several years and after undergoing an operation Dec. 5th he seemed to be getting better but on Dec. 25th he became worse and was taken back to the hospital Dec. 27th where all that could be done was done, but God called him home Jan. 4th.

He leaves to mourn his departure, one brother, John W. Keeler of Ft. Madison, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were held Jan. 7th at Mt. Sterling, the Rev. Clark officiating. Burial was in the Harness cemetery.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral of Mr. Keeler were: John, Wayne and Vaughn Keeler, Ft. Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Rose Keeler and daughter, Ottumwa; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Leathers and son, Fairfield; Mrs. Jack Elder, Keokuk; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hawke, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Steeples, Farmington; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Steinmeyer, Bonaparte; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wolfe and family, Lebanon; Floyd Wolfe and daughters and Ralph Keeler, Cantril.
