Elmer Shepherd

(Lincoln, Nebr. Star)
Elmer N. Shepherd, 69, a resident of Lincoln for 37 years, died Thursday morning at a local hospital. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

Born at Bentonsport, Iowa, Mr. Shepherd attended Union college here in 1899 and 1900 and again in 1910-1911. During 1912 he taught at the St. Thomas Pilate church school in The Virgin islands, then the next two years he spent teaching woodwork at Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He has been engaged in floor finishing work in Lincoln.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce McCartney, Bellingham, Wash., and Mrs. Theresa Niswanger, Nashville, Tenn.; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh-day Adventist church in College View. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Mr. Shepherd was reared and on a farm near Bentonsport, and was first married to Margaret Beck of Bonaparte. She died about 18 years ago and is buried at Bonaparte. In April, 1946 he was married to Myrtle Snyder and she survives.
