Charles V. Harmon

Charles V. Harmon died at his home near Anson, Mo., Feb. 16, 1948 after an extended illness. His age was 82 years, 10 months and 20 days. He was born at Terre Haute, Ind., March 26, 1865, the son of Josiah and Martha Pope Harmon, early settlers of Indiana.

He went from Indiana to Illinois and later to Missouri locating near Alexandria where he lived for many years. For the past 25 years or more he had resided on his farm near Anson, in Grant township, Clark county, Mo.

As a young man he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Barnhill and to this union five daughters were born: Mrs. Roy Stage and Mrs. Raymond Wilson of Bemidji, Minn., Mrs. Everett Smith of Fort Madison, Iowa, Mrs. Frank Reed of Keokuk, and Thelma D. Harmon, deceased.

His wife died many years ago and he later married Miss Dorothy Hageman, May 2, 1921 and to this union three children were born, as follows: Mr. William McMillen of Farmington, Iowa, Mrs. Roscoe Bartels of Kahoka, Mo., and Veach Harmon of Farmington, Iowa.

In addition to his wife and children he is survived by 23 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Alta Ann Armstrong of Glendale, Calif., and a half-brother, Elven H. Harmon of San Antonio, Texas. Two sisters and a daughter preceded him in death.
