WALDO ATKINS

Waldo "Pete" Atkins, 54, of Milton, Van Buren county auditor, died Friday noon at Ottumwa hospital following an operation. He had been a patient at the hospital several weeks where he had previously undergone three operations. He had served as deputy auditor and was recently appointed auditor. His friendly disposition made many friends for him in this county.

He was born May 30, 1893, in Unionville, Mo. and had lived in Milton, Iowa, for many years. He was a veteran of World War I.

Mr. Atkins is survived by his wife, Wilma; two daughters, Mrs. Verne Downard of Keosauqua and Kay at home; two brothers, Dorris Atkins of San Francisco, Calif., and Jesse Atkins of Lemons, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Davidson of Milton and Mrs. Sylvia Wilson of Davenport, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Milton Methodist church with Rev. Reynolds Murdock officiating. Burial was in Milton Sunnyside cemetery.
