After his wife's death, Leander Jr. and his wife, Laura, kept house for him. After Laura's death his oldest son, Annison, and family moved in with him and have taken care of him. Mr. Bradford lived on this farm a little over 60 years.

His has been a useful life, always ready to do his part in public and community affairs, ready to help as a neighbor and friend, a good husband, a kind and loving father, and a good citizen. To know Leander Bradford was to like him and the better you knew him the better you liked him.

In his passing the family have lost a kind and loving father and the community one of its best neighborss(sp) and citizens.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Story Chapel with Rev. D.D. Flanagan of Bonaparte in charge. Singing was by the Vernon Prairie male quartet, Sam Wolf, Will Gaston, Keith Gaston and O.L. Bostock, with Mrs. Ethel Cooper accompanist. Interment in Thompson cemetery.

The passing of Mr. Bradford leaves Bonaparte without a living veteran of the civil war, and there are but seven in Van Buren county.
