Death of Perry Hearn.

Perry Hearn, youngest child of Thomas and Nancy Hearn, died at his home one and a half miles northwest of Keosauqua at 9 o'clock Saturday evening, April 4, 1891, aged 33 years, 10 months and 21 days, dying on the farm where he was born and always lived. Friday, March 27, he took sick with the measles which soon involved his lungs, and though of vigorous and strong constitution never having known but little sickness, the disease held him in its relentless grasp until the end. He was not conscious for two or three days before his death, suffering much at first but towards the last resting easily and passing peacefully away. To say that Perry was a model young man worthy as an example for those to follow who desire to be respected as good and manly, is but repeating what is the universal sentiment of his acquaintances everywhere. Faithful to his duties as a citizen and particularly faithful and loving to his aged mother who still lives, a generous hearted and sympathizing friend of neighbors and associates, were among qualities natural to him. Besides his mother, there are living two brothers, Samuel and John W. Hearn and a sister, Mrs. C. Wright. His death is not only an affliction to those relatives but a source of sorrow to the community generally. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Keosauqua and his funeral was conducted by that order, Rev. Cowan preaching the discourse in the M.E. church Monday afternoon, from whence the body was taken to the Purdom cemetery and laid to rest in the presence of a very large concourse of people.
