DEATH OF MARTIN TUTTLE.

Another Member of the Famous Tuttle Family Formerly of Farmington Has Passed Away.

Mr. Martin Tuttle, formerly of Farmington, died suddenly at his home at Des Moines Saturday night, and was found dead Sunday morning. Mr. Tuttle was a brother of General J.M. Tuttle. He was born in Ohio Nov. 27, 1824, and in 1845 located in this county, where he followed the grocery business for a time, and then engaged in the stone foundation of the state Capitol. He was elected major of Des Moines in 1870, and was a member of the board of public works.

Mr. Samuel B. Tuttle of Des Moines is the remaining brother of the three whose lives have been identified with the history of Des Moines for more than a generation. General Tuttle died about eight years ago. Two sisters, Mrs. Thomas C. Wright and Martha Tuttle live in Chicago, and a sister, Celesta Tuttle, lives in Des Moines.

Martin Tuttle and Mary George, who was born in Philadelphia, were married in Fayette, Indiana, March 7, 1849. Mrs. Tuttle died in 1870. August 4, 1873, Mr. Tuttle was married to Harriett Moulton Bartelle, in Des Moines, and Mrs. Tuttle died August 20, 1900. Mr. John Tuttle of Chicago, was her only child.

Mr. Tuttle's children are Alice, the wife of W.W. Baldwin, of Burlington; Georgia, the wife of John Drabelle, of St. Louis; Sarah V., the wife of Frank Connor, of Burlington; John W. Tuttle, who lives in San Francisco; Mary C., wife of Geo. Salter, of Burlington; John M. Tuttle of Chicago.
