**Handwritten: St. Line Dem. Wed. 23 March 1904

--Mr. John Topping of Birmingham, an old and substantial and respected citizen of Union township, passed away Saturday morning at the advanced age of 82 years. The funeral was held Monday, and the interment was at Winchester. Mr. J.W. Topping and R.J. Topping of Burlington were among those present at the funeral. The two latter and Mr. E.H. Skinner were in town yesterday, when Mr. Skinner produced Mr. Topping's will, and it was read to them by the district clerk. It provided one third of his estate, should go to the widow, and two thirds about equally to the children, except Homer, who was given $1, and about whose share shere(?) seems to have been some previous understanding. Mr. R.J. Topping was named executor without bond.
