Obituary.
JOSEPH A. M'CLURG.

Dr. Joseph A. Mc Clurg died at 6 a.m., Sunday, after an illness of several months of lung and heart trouble. Dr. McClurg was born at Washington, Guernsey county, Ohio, April 21, 18 36. He came to Keosauqua in 1859, and began the practice of dentistry, at which he was skilful and which he followed successfully as long as health permitted. In 1866 he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda Walker, daughter of the late Joel Walker, who with a family of three sons and a daughter survive him. Dr. Mcclurg was well known over the county. He possessed a cultured mind and refined life. Whatever position he occupied he was always a gentleman. His illness was long and at times he suffered severely, but he bore it all with admirable fortitude and manliness. His intellect was clear and strong, and unsubdued to the last. Rev. C.E. Perkins, who delivered the fundral discourse, stated his last visit was about 36 hours before Dr. McClurg's death, and that he felt sure he was more entertained by the Doctor's talked on different subjects than he had been able to entertain him. This sustained vigor of intellect in the presence of the decline and wreck of the physical forces suggested itself to the clergyman as an evidence of the imperishability of the mind.

The funeral was from the late residence at 2 o'clock Monday.
