Farmer's Tragic Death.
Cantril, Iowa, Jan. 23. - Joseph Mattock aged sixty years, and a resident of Granger, Mo., met instant death at 8 o'clock Friday morning, while engaged in falling a large tree on his farm near Granger. He had chopped the tree off at the ground and was standing to one side watching it fall, when a large limb struck him on the head, crushing his skull and causing instant death. The lifeless form of the man was discovered a short time after the accident.
Mr. Mattock was a well-known resident of Granger, having been engaged in the grocery business there for a number of years. A short time ago he disposed of his business and had since been living in retirement in the city. he leaves a wife to mourn his death.
