MORTUARY RECORD.

WILLIAM FERGUSON.

William Ferguson was born Nov. 17, 1841, in Campbelltown, Scotland, and died at his home in Leando, Iowa, Oct. 25, 1908, aged 66 years, 11 months and 22 days.

Mr. Ferguson came to America in 1859 and first located in Toronto, Canada, where he remained one year, afterwards locating in St. Louis, Mo. Here he was married to Miss Maggie Peterkin, Sept. 22, 1867. Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson were the parents of nine children, seven boys and two girls, as follows: Wm., of Chester, Ill.; Peter C. and John of Ottumwa, Iowa; Hugh of Galva, Ia.; James A. of Florence, Col.; Mrs. Chas. (Janette) Whitten of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Clarence (Maggie) Benning of Sommers, Iowa, and George and Neal, who yet remain at home. All the children with their mother, except James who arrived later, were present in the last hour to mourn the extreme loss of a devoted husband and a loving father.

Mr. Ferguson with his family came to Leando in 1892, where he resided until his death. He was the owner and proprietor of the Leando Flouring Mills. Being a thorough, practical miller he engaged mostly his entire life in the milling business.

A more devoted husband and indulgent father could not be found. He constantly strived to make his surroundings more beautiful and more pleasant. His neighbors without exception were all his warm personal friends and who, with the bereaved wife and family, feel deeply their irreparable loss.

The funeral service was held at his late residence, Oct. 27, 1908, and was conducted by the Masonic order of which he was an honored member. The choir rendered, "Lead kindly light" and "How blessed the righteous," after which he remains, accompanied by his two elder sons, was conveyed to St. Louis for final interment.
