Death of Miss Lela Harward
The latter part of last week Frank Harward of Village township received the sad news that his daughter Lela was very ill with pneumonia at a hospital in Washington, D.C. The father left at once for her bedside, and on Monday sent a telegram announcing the sad news of her death. She was a lovable young lady, 21 years old, and the news of her death was a shock to all who knew her. She taught in rural schools of this county and in the consolidated school at Selma. While working in the Selma bank, she accepted a government position at Washington, where she had been a few months when she succumbed to to disease.
