KERR.

Samuel Kerr was born near Belfast, County Aatrim, Ireland, in October, 1814, and died near Pittsburg, Iowa, Dec. 24, 1895.

In his early life he travelled over Scotland, coming to America in 1832, living for a time in New York, then he removed to Guernsey county, Ohio. From there he came to Van Buren county, Iowa, in 1848 where he had since lived.

He was married to Henrietta Coatts in Ohio. To them were born four sons and two daughters and one son is deceased. His wife died in 1855. He was again married to Elizabeth Smith and to them was born one son who is still living.

The sons that are now living are John Kerr, of Seward, Kan., William A. Kerr, James Kerr, and Samuel Kerr, of Van Buren county, Ia.

Father Kerr was a member of the Presbyterian church. He was a quiet good man respected by all who knew him.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. H.F. Gilbert were held at the home of his son, W.A. Kerr, Dec. 26, 1895. The remains were laid to away in the Pittsburg cemetery.
