Frances D. Overstreet

Frances D. Overstreet, 101, formerly of rural Cantril, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

A funeral is schedules for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Tiffany Austin Williams, a step-great-granddaughter, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.

Visitation opens at 2 p.m. Wednesday. An Eastern Star Service by Twin City Chapter 258, Douds, is set for 6 p.m., followed by family visitation until 7:30 p.m.

Memorials to Maple Grove Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 2963 Catalpa St., Newport Beach, CA 92660.

Mrs. Overstreet was born Jan. 15, 1912, near Media, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Bessie Gibb Rankin. She married C. LaVerne "Pete" Overstreet Sept. 1, 1931, in Aledo, Ill. He died April 13, 1978.

She graduated from Roseville High School in Roseville, Ill.

She and her husband farmed near Raritan, Ill., until moving to their farm southwest of Cantril in 1946.

She was an active farm homemaker and helper for her husband.

She moved to Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren March 13.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Milton and Twin City Chapter No. 258, Order of Eastern Star in Douds, and a charter member of the Happy Hour Club of rural Cantril.

Survivors include two sons, Rex Overstreet and spouse Jean of Stockport and Byron Overstreet and spouse Doris of Viola, Ill.; one daughter, Dolores Hannam and spouse Bernard of Newport Beach, Calif.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Burton, Ronald and Eugene "Potter" Overstreet; one daughter, Donna Augspurger; two grandchildren; one brother, Dale Rankin; and three sisters, Mildred Whitaker, Madeline Stice and Mae Wagner.
