Death of Mrs. Doolittle.

Democrat readers will recall that last week mention was made of the visit here of Mrs. Flora Doolittle of Garden Grove, Iowa, and that she went from here Wednesday morning to undergo a surgical operation at Ottumwa, being accompanied by her neice, Miss Lizzie Wilson of this place. The operation, which was for an abdominal tumor, was performed Thursday afternoon. Her husband was present and some four or five other physicians. Mrs. Doolittle rallied from the shock and seemed to be doing well until Saturday, when suddenly a change for the worse set in and she died Saturday night.

Deceased was 50 years of age. She was a daughter of Deacon Benj. Wilson who came here in an early day, and a sister of Mr. B.S. Wilson, the merchant here. Her husband was formerly in the drug business here, the firm being Doolittle & Johnston. Their store was in the Democrat building. Mrs. Doolittle was a very estimable lady. She was buried at Garden Grove, Tuesday, Mr. and Miss Wilson of this place attending the funeral.
