MORTUARY RECORD.

Mr. John Black, whose death occurred Wednesday morning of last week, was born at Wexford, Ireland, in 1810 or 1813, it is not known certainly which, and he was consequently 90 or 93 years old. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Horn, who survives him, in 1839. They have travelled life's journey together 64 years. They came from Ireland to Van Buren county 46 years ago. Seven children had been born to them but only one is living, Mr. Wm. Black of Pittsburg precinct. The funeral was at the late residence, Rev. H.A. Ingham making the prayer and Rev. C.E. Perkins delivering the sermon.

Mr. Black was an honest man, and a hard working man all his life. His work was of a kind that was a distinct benefit to the world, and it may justly be said that conditions in the world are better by his having had lived in it. Many of us might in very truth be ashamed of our work in the world when compared with that of hones, faithful John Black.
