Death of Clara J. Hartson

A gloom passed over the citizens of Keosauqua, Monday morning when the news was heralded around that Miss Clara Hartson, one of our oldest citizens had passed away sometime between midnight and 4:30 that morning. She had been in usual health until Sunday when she was somewhat indisposed, but when she went to bed Sunday night said she was feeling better and would call them if she needed anything. Her neice(sp) Mrs. Fred Ream, of Los Angeles, Calif., who with her husband has been visiting here for several weeks, got up and went to her room about 5 o'clock finding her dead.

Funeral services will be held at Congregational church, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. H.J. Wilkins, her former pastor. The remains will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 o'clock Friday in order to enable her scholars and friends a chance to pay their last tribute to her. Burial in Purdom cemetery.

Her neice(sp), Mrs. Hattie Gearhart of Los Angeles, Calif., will reach Keosauqua Thursday.
