Jacob Eich Miller, son of James W. and Alice Eich Miller, was born July 30, 1886 near Bonaparte, Iowa; and departed this life Nov. 9, 1957 after suffering a fatal heart attack.

When he was six months old, he moved with his parents to the farm where he spent all his life and where he was living at the time of his death. He loved the out-of-doors and made livestock raising and farming his life's work until failing health prevented him from doing active work.

On Dec. 20, 1911, he was united in marriage to Eva E. Bell. To this union were born four children: Alice, Mary, Helen and Charles. In 1923, when the children were small, the home was saddened by the death of the mother.

He was a member of the Aurora Lodge No. 50 A.F. & A.M., Royal Arch, Commandry, Shrine and Consistory, and a member of the Eastern Stars. Recently he received a certificate for 40 years of membership in Masonry. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Eva; one brother, Charles G; two half-brothers, Robert M. and Howard H. Miller.

Surviving are his four children: Alice Miller of Olympia, Wash.; Mary Beggs and husband, Manly of Milton, Iowa; Helen Grant and husband, Herbert, of Davenport, Iowa; one son, Charles James at home; two grandchildren, James and Kay Beggs; and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Lindsay and Bertha Miller of Milton.

He loved his home, family and friends. All knew him to be a good neighbor and willing to help those in need.

Funeral services were held at the Milton Methodist church on Monday, Nov. 11, 1957, with the Rev. Harold Harryman of Milton officiating. Masonic rites were held at the grave. Interment in Sunnyside cemetery.
