THE DEAD CONVICT.

Ft. Madison Gem City: A convict by the name of Tom Waldon, at the Iowa State Penitentiary, died suddenly at that institution Saturday of heart disease. He entered the penitentiary Friday, coming from Council Bluffs to serve five years for larceny. When he entered the prison he was apparently in good health and was a fine specimen of a man physically. He was returning from some work that he had been sent to do when he fell to the ground dead. His remains were taken to the undertaking establishment of Johnston & Lohman where they are being held awaiting word from relatives if they can be located, otherwise the body will be turned over to one of the state medical colleges. Waldon was a handsome looking fellow about 35 years of age. On his breast was tattooed the name "John Waldon, Monterey, Mexico." Below the name was also tattooed a large dagger piercing a heart, with the figures "1882," that possible being the year of his birth. On his wrist were other figures, one the head of a girl.
