SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. BELLE HARNESS

Services were held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Catcott funeral home in charge of Rev. Button Bastuscheck for Mrs. Belle Harness who died at the Van Buren county hospital, March 26.

Melissa Belle Harness was born May 3, 1868 to Solomon and Sarah Cross near Keosauqua.

She was united in marriage to Samuel Jerome Harness on Dec. 24, 1884. To this couple were born nine children. Mrs. Harness was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 1, 1940, a daughter in infancy, and Mrs. Bart Petetie, a daughter, Farmington, on March 12, 1951.

Surviving are Lawrence Harness, Castleton, N. Dak., Myrtle Obley, St. Joseph, Mo., Leonard Harness, Keosauqua, Lulu Wells, Rochester, N.Y., Clara Lerchie, Moulton, Ina Carruthers, Keosauqua, Guy Harness, Liberal, Kan., and two sisters.
