Ruth Trueblood 1926-2016

Former Van Buren County resident, Mrs. Ruth Trueblood, 90, of Rutledge, TN, passed away in the early morning of July 16,
2016, at Heritage Center in Morristown, TN.

Born on March 8, 1926, in Burlington, NC, Ruth was the daughter of J.D. and Ethel Kimbrough Oakley. On December 2, 1944, she married Vern Harry Trueblood. He passed away On December 26, 2006. The couple moved to Iowa in the early 1950s and had lived in Van Buren County almost 40 years. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Tennessee in 1994. After her husband’s death, Ruth moved to Darby House where she resided until May 2016 when she was admitted to Heritage Center in Morristown, TN.

Mrs. Trueblood had been a telephone operator, cleaned houses and worked at Fairfield Glove Factory and Iowa Army Ordnance Plant in Middletown.

She was also known for baking pies, cakes and her candy making, especially around the holidays. She loved her family and loved looking after her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Krista (Ron) McWhirter of Fairfield, IA, and Jane (Randy) Pearce of Morristown, TN; four sons, Dan (Monica) Trueblood of Algonquin, IL, Brad (Shirley) Trueblood of Morristown, TN; Brian (Tammy) Trueblood of Wisconsin, and Brent (Hope) Trueblood of Rutledge, TN; nine grandchildren, Audra (Darin) Gilpin, Kara (Barry) Waugh, Kimberly (Greg) Peterson, Michael Trueblood, Mitch (Lucie) Trueblood, Zach Trueblood, Sara Trueblood, T.J. Trueblood, and Gabrielle Trueblood; two sisters, Vera Robinson of Wisconsin, and Audrey Nuyen of Georgia.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rhonda, two grandchildren, Kevin and Danielle, and three brothers and three sisters.

Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Westside Chapel of Morristown, TN. A private family service for burial of ashes will be held at a later date in Rutledge, TN.
