VAN FLEET, BERGER, VAN TREES

Abraham Van Fleet was born in Hunterdon county, New Jersey, March 5, 1817, and died at his residence near Lebanon, Iowa, August 6, 1896, aged 79 years, 5 months and 2 days. He was married to Mattie Berger in 1833. They moved to Franklin county, Ohio, in 1836, and in 1842 they moved to Iowa and settled on the farm where he died. By his first marriage he had six children, four of whom are living. His wife died Sept. 16, 1870, and June 15, 1871, he married Alvira Van Trees. There were born to them five children, four of whom with their mother survive him. Mr. Van Fleet was an estimable citizen and a good neighbor. A large concourse of people attended the funeral, which was held in the M.E. church at Lebanon, Saturday, Aug. 8, at 10 o'clock a.m. Rev. C.W. Shepherd had charge of the services.
