MRS. GLEN ELLIOTT

On Monday, Oct. 11, 1937, the Home Prairie community was shocked and saddened by the sudden taking in death of Mrs. Glen Elliott at her home near Cantril by a stroke of apoplexy. The entire community is left to mourn the loss of a true neighbor and friend, one ever ready to help in time of sickness or trouble, ably fulfilling the words, "She hath done what she could."

Sarah Ellen Huff, daughter of John E. and Sarepta Huff was born June 18, 1886 on the home farm near Bentonsport and in that community she grew to womanhood. In early girlhood she was converted to the Christian faith, becoming a member of the Methodist church at Story Chapel. After reaching womanhood she prepared herself for teaching and for five years was a successful teacher in Van Buren county.

On Dec. 30, 1908, she was united in marriage to Glen Elliott of Bentonsport, and most of their married life has been spent on their farm near Cantril. To this union was born one son, Hollis, Sept. 13, 1912, and a daughter, Dec. 3, 1921, who died at birth. Also in the home is a nephew, Norvin Bradford, who has been cared for as a son since the death of his mother, Laura Huff Bradford.

Sadie will be remembered by the wide circle of friends as a woman devoted to her home, a faithful, loving wife and mother, and a true neighbor and friend. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and one sister, Laura Belle. Besides her husband and son, Hollis, she leaves to mourn her departure, five brothers, harry of Hillsboro, Fred of Mexico, Mo., Oscar of Macomb, Ill., Ralph of Oakland, Calif., and Everett of Bentonsport, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The funeral service was held Friday afternoon at the Cantril Methodist church with Rev. Eastburn in charge. Burial was in Cantril Maple Grove cemetery.
