Wilma Anderson

Wilma Anderson, 86, of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

She was born in Lockridge, Iowa, on June 23, 1927. She graduated from Fairfield High School. On March 15, 1947, she married Vance Anderson in Des Moines, Iowa. They worked together for more than 60 years on their farm north of Cantril. Vance and Wilma enjoyed traveling, and visited 47 of the 50 states.

Wilma especially enjoyed family get togethers and usually insisted on a game of "Spoons." Her favorite pastime was playing cards and she was a member of several card clubs and was always looking for a card game.

She is survived by a son, Marty (Rae Jean) Anderson of Cantril; a daughter, Brenda (Cyrus) Robinson of Davenport; two grandsons, Nathan (Jamie) Robinson of Coralville and Adam (Katie) Robinson of Davenport; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Isaac Robinson of Coralville; one sister, Joann Thys of Fairfield; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Johnston of Edina, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vance; and a sister, Alberta Johnson.

A memorial service celebrating Wilma's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Cantril Christian Church. Rev. Jerry Caughron will officiate the service.

A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be given in her name to Cantril Fire Department, Grass Roots or Cantril Christian Church, PO Box 1, Cantril, IA 52542.
