Mrs. Herbert Gaston

Mrs. Herbert (Mary Emily) Gaston, 61, 221 Avenue G, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in Sacred Heart hospital. She had been in failing health several years and seriously ill two weeks.

Mrs. Gaston was born June 30, 1912, in Fort Madison and was a lifelong local resident. She was a member of the First United Methodist church.

She and Herbert Gaston, who survives, were married Oct. 26, 1939, in Fort Madison.

Also surviving are a brother, Robert Turner, Charlotte, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Schurk and Mrs. Frank (Meriam) Myers, both of Fort Madison, Mrs. Dolores Gray, Sun City, Ariz., and Mrs. Royce (Margaret) Blott, Davenport; and several nephews and nieces.

Her parents were Bert and Mahala Barnett Turner.

The body is at the Barr Memorial Chapel where final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Paul Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Soldiers' Circle of Oakland cemetery.

The family will meet friends at the Barr Memorial Chapel from 7 to 8 Saturday evening.
