OBITUARY.

Mrs. Eliza Shoemaker died at 1 p.m. Monday, April 13, 1908, at her home near the Wabash station, in Smithville. She was aged 91 years, 6 months and 28 days. She came to Ohio presumably from Lebanon county, Pa., in her 17th year and has lived in the vicinity of Smithville ever since, and in the village of Smithville about 23 years. She had been an invalid for over three years, very infirm, almost blind and deaf. She emigrated with her parents from Pennsylvania in a covered wagon, she walked through Pittsburg, Pa. 6 1/2 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Hoff moved into her home and have cared for her in a way that has been approved by every one. Her funeral was held Wednesday, at (1 p.m.) in the Bethel, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Weimer, assisted by Revs. Murry and Longenecker. Interment at Mt. Zion by the side of her husband, Rev. John Shoemaker. She had been married twice and was the mother of four children, three sons and one daughter who have preceded her to the Spirit world. Two sons died in the army during the war of the Rebellion, one at Memphis, Tenn., the other of Evansville, Ind. Mrs. Shoemaker was a widow for 42 years. she was a devoted woman, and a member of the German Baptist church for many years.
