GRANT U. BURNETT

Grant U. Burnett, son of Thomas and Isabelle Osborne Burnett, was born near Ames, Iowa, June 27, 1869. When a young man he moved with his parents to Van Buren county, Iowa, near Bonaparte.

On Feb. 15, 1893, he was united in marriage with Effie Grimm. To this union was born two sons, Harry A. and Willard G. This loving wife and mother passed to her reward Sept. 27, 1908.

On Oct. 21, 1914, he was united in marriage to Sallie Bostock and for several years lived on a farm near Bonaparte.

In 1924 he became associated with his son Harry in the furniture and undertaking business at Cantril and Milton, Iowa. In Nov. 1945 he retired and moved to Alhambra, Calif., where they have since made their home.

March 23, 1953, he suffered a severe heart attack from which he never completely recovered, and on the morning of May 12 passed peacefully away.

He was a member of the Milton Methodist church.

He was the last of the family of eight children, four brothers, three sisters, and his parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Sallie of Alhambra, Calif.; two sons, Harry A. and Willard G. of San Gabriel, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Dad, as he was called by his immediate family, was a wonderful husband and father, and for one of his age was quite remarkable, in that, he was a great reader, kept up on the times of the day and loved to travel and visit with his family and friends.
