Last rites were held Monday Feb,12,1962 at Stockport for Mrs. Rose Dodds, 88, long-time resident of Van Buren County. The services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Stockport Christian Church with the Rev. Chester Werft in charge. Burial was in Miller Chapel cemetery. The arrangements were in charge of the Burch funeral home at Birmingham. Mrs. Dodds passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 10 in the Van Buren county Memorial hospital at Keosauqua after a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 29, 1873 near Utica in Van Buren County, the daughter of James M. and Martha Hatch Johnston. She was married to Lute Wallace Dodds Apr. 25, 1894, he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1947. Mrs. Dodds is survived by four daughters and four sons: Mrs. Kathryn Calhoun, Stockport, Mrs. Lura Strong and Fanchon Dodds, both of Chicago; Mrs. Erma Duncan, Iowa City; J. M. Dodds, Hillsboro; Lex Dodds, Hyattsville,Md.; Dee Dodds, Washington, D.C.; and Harve Dodds, Stockport. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren and 12 great granchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and three children.
