MRS. IO M. FRANKLIN

Mrs. Io M. McCracken Franklin, daughter of Isaac and Emma Shepherd McCracken, was born on a farm in Van Buren county near Bentonsport, Iowa, Nov. 29, 1863, and passed away suddenly from a heart attack at her home April 20, 1938, where she had lived more than forty years.

On Feb. 25, 1890, she was united in marriage to Freemont Franklin. To this union were born three children Mrs. Stella McCarty of Westfield, Iowa, Mrs. Jessie Kissling of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Kenneth Franklin of Bonaparte, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1905, and also by two brothers. She leaves to mourn her departure her three children, above named; one sister, Mrs. Ida Warner of Bentonsport, and two brothers, Otto McCracken of McComb, Ill., and Joe McCracken of Keosauqua; also twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, also a host of friends and neighbors.

In early life she united with the Presbyterian church and remained a faithful follower of the Lord until he came to take her home.

She was a wonderful neighbor and always ready and willing to help those in need. She will be greatly missed from the neighborhood where she kept busy doing kind acts and deeds for those about her.

A tribute beautifully expressing the life of Io May Franklin was read by Rev. L.E. Winfrey from the pulpit of the Presbyterian church of which she was a life long member. A profusion of beautiful flowers, mute symbols of the high esteem in which she was held; the hymns she loved with Mrs. Dustin at the piano, Bernice Elliott and Faye Wolfe singing softly; the entire community joining the stricken relatives paid tribute to her memory and mourn her passing.

The impressive service was as she would have wished, and in a quiet hush of an afternoon mid the fragrance of flowers and God's handiwork her body was placed beside that of her husband in the Bentonsport cemetery.
