Obituary of Benton Campbell

Elliott Benton Campbell, son of Lewis and Minerva Campbell, was born in Cedar township, Van Buren county, Iowa, Feb. 27, 1863, and died in Burlington, Iowa, October 13, 1923, aged 60 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Deceased was united in marriage to Mrs. Alta McCleland Feb. 27, 1908, who with her daughter Mrs. Charity Thompson and family are left to mourn their loss. His surviving brother and sisters are J.A. Campbell, Mrs. Hattie West and Mrs. Exie Berg, all of Harrisburg township.

The deceased was a man of sterling integrity and honesty and possessed all the qualities of a good citizen and neighbor. He united with the Harrisburg Baptist church in the year 1910. He believed in religion, professed it and lived it as a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus. October 2, 1923, he moved from his home in Harrisburg to Burlington, Iowa. Declining health was the reason for the removal from the home of his life-time. But the stay was brief and on the morning of October 13, 1923, he passed to the great beyond. Gone but not forgotten, he will long be held in fond remembrance by those who knew him best.
